Ma Luo Kong Wang (Horse in the Void)
Tian Ma sharing a palace with Di Kong or Di Jie — a horse running on empty. Motion without result; decide first, then move.
🔑 How It Forms
Tian Ma guards the Life Palace and that same palace also holds Di Kong or Di Jie (either one of the two is enough). That forms the pattern. The test looks only at those two items in the Life Palace itself; Xun Kong and Jie Kong (two other minor stars whose names also contain emptiness) lie outside this rule.

🔬 A Worked Example, Step by Step
The chart below is cast by our own engine, and the steps come from the pattern detector in that same pass — the explanation is the judgement, not a separate write-up.
- 1
Locate the Life Palace (branch Shen) as the basis for judgement.
- 2
Found Tian Ma in the Life Palace.
- 3
Looking for Di Kong and Di Jie in the Life Palace: found Di Jie (any one suffices).
- 4
All 2 conditions above are met, so the pattern forms.
- 5
Finally the tier: no benefics or wealth stars temper the trinity of the Life Palace, so the risk structure stands in full.
✓ Result: the pattern forms and no benefic or Lu star tempers it — the affliction stands at full strength
Tian Ma is the star of motion, governing travel, relocation and the circulation of opportunity, and its whole value lies in where it runs to; Di Kong and Di Jie govern coming to nothing and draining away. With them in one palace, what the detector marks is the structure of running and arriving nowhere — the horse is still running but the road is hollow: the business trip that closes nothing, the move that improves nothing, the change of field that ends up back at the start. This step examines the Life Palace only, and the stars must genuinely share it; shining in from across the trinity does not count. What wears a person down in this pattern is not the effort but the futility, so the adjustment is equally direct: verify the destination before setting out, and trade random motion for movement with a target. Motion itself was never the problem.
🎯 Readings by Topic
Ask three questions before moving: why go, what counts as success, and how to withdraw if it fails. No answers, no departure.
Cap the budget for travel and experiments. Never chase an opportunity for the sake of chasing one.
Long-distance relationships especially need an explicit rhythm and a deadline; a relationship left floating is the most draining kind.
⚠️ When It Breaks
Lu Cun or Hua Lu in attendance resolves it — even in the Void, salary and horse can still produce money. Do not change things constantly, since one major move a year is plenty. Give the traveling a through-line and the Void breaks itself.
