What is BaZi Love Compatibility?
BaZi compatibility is not a lookup table of two zodiac animals. It puts two complete charts side by side: each Day Master’s strength and favorable elements, how the Day Pillars and marriage palaces interact, whether the Ten Gods complement each other, which pillar positions combine or clash, and whether the two luck cycles run in step. It does not answer "should we be together" — it answers "where will this be easy, and where will it cost effort".
The three layers of a real compatibility reading
A serious compatibility reading is built bottom-up in three layers. Skip one and the rest is guesswork:
Layer 1 · Each chart on its own
First read each person: which Day Master, strong or weak, what it welcomes and what it resists. Whether two sets of favorable elements complement each other is the foundation — miss it and everything above is speculation.
Layer 2 · How the two charts interact
Day Pillar against Day Pillar (the day branch is the marriage palace), the cross-mapped Ten Gods, and the combinations and clashes between all pillars. This layer is what makes compatibility its own discipline: two charts read separately still have to be computed again together.
Layer 3 · Timing in step
Luck cycles move in ten-year steps. Whether two people’s cycles run in step decides which years feel easy and which take work. The same couple does not pay the same cost at every stage.
The Six Dimensions in Your Report

Both birth times pass through five corrections independently, and every conclusion in the report names the pillar and the Ten God it came from — here is every step.
We Do Not Score Your Compatibility
Almost every compatibility tool hands you a number — 87, 92. Where it came from, how it was weighted, why it is not 86: nobody explains, and you cannot check it.
We give you the reasoning instead. Every conclusion names its source: which pillar, which Ten God, which relationship. You can trace each one against your own chart and agree or disagree. Whether a relationship is worth the work should not be answered by a number you are not allowed to question.

Three Gates Behind an Accurate Compatibility Reading
Compatibility is not a separate algorithm. It is the same BaZi engine run twice, plus a layer of relationship analysis. So every correction in single-chart casting runs twice here — once per person.
Here is exactly what we do at each of the three gates.
Gate 1 · Each birth time corrected on its own
Many compatibility tools make both people share one set of time settings, which is guaranteed wrong for couples born in different places. We run two fully independent pipelines: each person carries their own birthplace coordinates, time zone, true solar time toggle, daylight saving determination and zi-hour convention through the full correction. A partner born in China between 1986 and 1991 is adjusted by that year's summer-time rule while a partner born in New York is resolved by New York's legal rule for their year — no interference — across historical rules for 124 countries and regions.
Gate 2 · The evidence is computed in code; the AI never touches a stem or branch
Every fact in the report is computed by deterministic code first: both sets of four pillars, the Ten God configurations (including stems hidden in branches), the combinations and clashes within each chart, both luck cycles, and the 11 annual pillars covering five years either side of the current one. Only once that is done does any of it reach the AI — which is required to name the pillar, the Ten God and the relationship behind every conclusion. If you want to go further and check the combinations and clashes between the two sets of pillars pair by pair, just ask straight after the analysis: 16 pillar-to-pillar comparisons across 5 kinds of relationship (stem combinations, 5 rules; branch six-combinations, 6; clashes, 6; punishments, 7; harms, 6) are listed out one by one, and every hit names which pillar of whose chart met which pillar of whose.
Gate 3 · Ziping convention: no symbolic stars in the report
Our engine carries 57 verified symbolic stars, including the ones compatibility marketing loves most — Peach Blossom, Red Phoenix, Heavenly Joy. The compatibility report uses none of them. The Ziping school does not decide fortune by symbolic stars, so the analysis stays on Ten Gods, combinations and clashes, luck cycles and annual pillars. This is a deliberate subtraction, with the comment and the commit to prove it. Ask the AI about a specific star and it will look it up for you: it stays out of the report's evidence, but it is not kept from you either.

Time zone and daylight saving logic is guarded by 86 automated test cases, with a dedicated regression test for the Lichun year boundary. Every time correction on both sides of a compatibility reading runs through that same verified code.
The algorithm keeps getting upgraded — both charts keep up together
Compatibility runs on the BaZi chart engine, twice. The engine is versioned, currently v30 — that number tracks how far the algorithm has climbed: zi-hour conventions, branch destructions, gong combinations, hidden combinations, 25 chart patterns, and historical time-zone rules for 124 countries and regions. The algorithm keeps reaching deeper and wider, and every upgrade is logged in the source code. The compatibility route version-checks both stored charts and brings an older one up to the current engine: what you store is both sets of birth data, not one version's output, and the compatibility chart you saved last year is computed by today's engine when you open it today.
AI never places a single character
Both sets of four pillars, the Ten God configurations (including stems hidden in branches), the combinations and clashes, and the luck and annual cycles are all computed by deterministic code before anything reaches the prompt. AI does one job: write the analysis on top of facts already computed — and it is required to name the pillar, the Ten God and the relationship behind every conclusion.
One engine, twelve kinds of relationship
The same relationship engine covers 12 relationship types — spouse, parent-child, mother-child, in-laws, close friends, manager-report, teacher-student and more — each with its own methodology and dimensions. Compatibility is the strictest of them.
When a Chart Sits on a Boundary, We Say So
If either person was born within five minutes of an hour boundary, or the true-solar correction moves them into a different traditional hour, or their birth date falls inside a daylight saving window, or they were born in the late zi hour — we flag it explicitly and name which partner it applies to. A few minutes can mean a different chart, and when it does, the compatibility findings move with it.
If one birth hour is unknown, the year, month and day pillars still support a reading and the report is produced as usual — the hour-pillar material is simply absent, and the pillar comparison drops to three pillars on that side. We will not fill the report with a guessed hour.

What does BaZi compatibility actually look at?
Three layers: how the two Day Pillars and marriage palaces produce or control each other, whether the two sets of favorable elements complement each other, and whether the two luck cycles run in step. A zodiac animal or a year pillar alone is only a hint — real compatibility needs both charts compared in full.
Why don’t you give a compatibility score?
Because a single number cannot carry what two charts say, and you cannot check it. We give you the reasoning instead: how the Day Pillars and marriage palaces interact, whether the Ten Gods complement each other, which pillar positions combine or clash, and whether your luck cycles run in step. Every conclusion names the pillar, the Ten God, and the relationship it came from, so you can trace it against your own chart. Knowing where the friction sits is worth more than "87 out of 100".
Our zodiac signs clash — can we still marry?
Yes. The zodiac animal maps to the year branch only — one of 16 stem-and-branch dimensions across both charts (four pillars each, one stem and one branch per pillar). What carries real weight is the Day Pillars and marriage palaces, the cross-mapped Ten Gods, and the rhythm of the luck cycles; and when you ask for the pillar-to-pillar comparison, year against year is only one pair out of 16. A zodiac clash is not even a primary variable in a full compatibility model, let alone a veto.
What if one of us does not know their exact birth time?
The reading still works. The year, month and day pillars carry enough for Day Master strength, Ten God configuration and luck cycle rhythm, and the report is produced as usual. What is missing is the hour-pillar material (children, later years), and the pillar comparison drops to three pillars on that side. We will not guess an hour for you.
We were born in different countries — how is the time handled?
Separately, each by its own rules. Each person carries their own birthplace coordinates and time zone through independent time zone resolution, historical daylight saving correction, true solar time conversion and zi-hour determination — with historical rules for 124 countries and regions built in. One partner born inside China's 1986–1991 summer-time window and another born in New York are each resolved by the law in force where and when they were born.
Why are there no Peach Blossom or Red Phoenix stars in the report?
Because we follow the Ziping convention, which does not decide fortune by symbolic stars. The analysis stays on Ten Gods, combinations and clashes, luck cycles and annual pillars. This is a deliberate subtraction rather than a missing capability: the engine carries 57 verified symbolic stars, Peach Blossom, Red Phoenix and Heavenly Joy among them. Ask about one and the AI will look it up.
How is BaZi compatibility different from Zi Wei compatibility?
Two methods, each played by its own rules. BaZi compatibility casts both charts straight from the birth data and reads character structure, complementary Ten Gods and the cost of living together. Zi Wei compatibility needs two existing Purple Star charts and reads spouse palaces against each other, major star pairings, transformation crossings and peach blossom placement. Use BaZi for "what kind of two people are we"; use Zi Wei for "where does the relationship land on the chart".
Do the findings change over time?
The charts do not, but two things do. Luck cycles turn over every ten years and annual pillars change yearly, so a couple does not face the same conditions at every stage — that is what the timing section is about. And the algorithm keeps getting upgraded, so a saved compatibility reading picks up the current engine the next time you open it — what you store is both sets of birth data, not one version's output.
