🔑 How It Forms
Zi Wei sits in the Life Palace itself. Within the Life Palace's trinity (the palace itself + the opposite palace + the two trine palaces, four in all), all three pairs of lucky stars must be present in full — Zuo Fu with You Bi, Tian Kui with Tian Yue, Wen Chang with Wen Qu — six stars with not one missing. That forms the pattern.

This pattern and Jun Chen Qing Hui (Court in Session) are two settings of one idea: both need Zi Wei at the Life Palace, and they differ only in how complete the staff is. Jun Chen Qing Hui asks merely for Zuo Fu and You Bi; Bai Guan Chao Gong (Hundred Officials) locks down all three pairs of the six lucky stars — Zuo Fu and You Bi handle execution, Tian Kui and Tian Yue handle introductions, Wen Chang and Wen Qu handle planning and paperwork. Only with all three lines staffed is the court in full attendance. The detector checks in three steps, one pair per step, because the six lucky stars come out in pairs by nature: lose one and the retinue is broken, and no other star can stand in for it. Lu Cun, Tian Ma, San Tai and Ba Zuo — the ceremonial stars the old books like to name in the same breath — lie outside the test; seeing them arrive as well is a favorable impression, not a factor in whether the pattern forms.

If the attending stars are scattered by Qing Yang, Tuo Luo, Huo Xing, or Ling Xing, the regalia is incomplete and the name outruns the actual power. Zi Wei overweighted by Hua Quan and joined by Gu Chen and Gua Su gives height with isolation — guard against being deserted by the very people who cheered.
