Day Star Enters Earth

Heaven-plate Yi over earth-plate Ren: the Day Wonder sinks into flooding water, its light drowned beneath the ground. Order between high and low breaks down, subordinates defy superiors, lawsuits and gossip entangle — and someone may be plotting harm in the shadows.

Formation

Heaven plate Yi + Earth plate Ren

In Depth

Yi is the Day Wonder, yin wood; Ren is yang water, called the Heavenly Prison, restless and flooding by nature. When heaven-plate Yi lands on earth-plate Ren, the Day Wonder enters the earth (Ri Qi Ru Di). The mechanism: Ren water nominally generates Yi wood, but Ren is a river in flood — Yi wood floats rootless upon it. When water overwhelms, wood drifts; excessive nourishment becomes drowning. The light sinks, order inverts, and the classical reading follows: the proper relations of high and low collapse — juniors defy seniors, seniors fail to shelter juniors — matters of confused standing multiply, drawing lawsuits and gossip, and even a trap laid in secret. In terms of fortune this is an inauspicious pattern. Divinations commonly show overstepped authority and disputes born of irregular standing; among people, beware betrayal by those close to you — trust misplaced. In love it points to relationships without proper standing, trailed by whispers and rumor. Points to note: the pattern's harm concentrates in two words — disorder and darkness. First, avoid anything of unclear standing: proxy holdings, private side agreements, and going over heads are all to be shunned. Second, watch for maneuvering behind your back. With auspicious doors and stars the trouble stays containable — use formal channels to set your standing right. With inauspicious doors, litigation is hard to avoid. If Yi meets the Void, the plotted harm is mostly bluster — hold steady. Under door forcing the drifting worsens: defer any major act of trust.

Readings by Topic

Career

Watch for subordinates overreaching and superiors shedding blame — a tangled reporting line is where disputes are born. Refuse to sign, hold, or act on another's behalf, and never skip levels. Someone is passing whispers behind you: documented reports and archived email are your armor.

Wealth

Money floats like wood on floodwater — quick to come, quick to scatter. Proxy holdings, off-book accounts, and gray income are the likeliest to capsize into lawsuits. The way to keep wealth is to match name to substance: assets titled in your own name, accounts that can survive an audit.

Relationships

The relationship risks improper standing — a hidden affair, a sharply mismatched or disordered pairing — with gossip following close behind. For anything lasting, set the standing right first. Beware a partner with designs of their own; do not hand over money or property lightly.

Health

Water floods and wood drifts: watch the kidneys and liver, edema, and dizziness; the mind turns suspicious and anxious, sleep fills with scattered dreams. In illness, guard against being steered to the wrong care — follow qualified medical advice, and verify every folk remedy and friendly referral.

Travel

Beware hazards on the water and disorder among companions; group trips are prone to infighting and splitting up. Keep documents and valuables on your person — entrust them to no one. Northbound and water-crossing routes demand extra caution, and watch for treachery en route.

Disputes & Lawsuits

The dispute typically turns on confused standing or ownership, or a junior striking at a senior — and the other side may have been laying groundwork in the dark for a long time. Never settle privately by word of mouth; keep everything in formal procedure. Identify who stands behind the case, and your defense can finally hit the mark.
