Gui Yi

Gui is Yin Water, the image of dew and hidden currents, known as the Celestial Net. It governs concealment, stagnation, and murky affairs. Matters in Gui's palace stay dark and hard to read — keep still and stay low; do not push forward loudly.

Among the ten Heavenly Stems, Gui is Yin Water, like dew and underground streams. In Qimen it is called the Celestial Net and serves as the Yi under which the Jia-Yin decade leader hides. Gui's symbolism is concealment and constraint: it governs obscurity, stagnation, romantic secrets and illicit affairs, as well as the net of the law, snares, and troubles impossible to fully guard against. As objects it stands for rain, mist, hidden waters, and net-like things; as people it stands for recluses and those who work in the shadows. Directionally, Gui Water belongs to the north and resonates with the Kan One palace. Palace placements: in Kan One it is on home ground, with ample power working unseen; in Qian Six or Dui Seven it receives Metal's support; in Kun Two or Gen Eight it is attacked by Earth — the net tears and secrets leak; in Xun Four it forms a Six Yi Strike Punishment (Yin punishing Si), meaning hidden matters flare into the open; in Li Nine it attacks Fire, and money is lost over shadowy dealings. Favorable and unfavorable pairings: Gui over Wu forms the Tian Yi Convergence — with auspicious Doors, both marriage and wealth prosper, a rare lucky pairing for Gui. It most fears Gui over Gui, the Celestial Net Spread on All Sides, harming travel, illness, and litigation alike; it also fears Ding, forming the Soaring Serpent Writhing, and Geng, forming Taibai Enters the Net, where a lawsuit ruins both parties. When Gui is strong, secrets stay hidden — good for quiet schemes and for biding one's time in patience; when weak, hidden matters leak easily, so audit oneself and plug the gaps first. Gui in emptiness means the net has an opening: a trapped situation unexpectedly offers a way out. Whenever Gui appears in a reading, first ask what hidden facts have not yet surfaced, then judge the outcome by the palace's support and restraint.

Gui governs hidden wealth and off-the-books income, and also funds caught in a net, unable to move. With Gui in a strong palace, do not be tempted by gray-area profits — bring hidden income onto the open ledger. Gui over Geng forms Taibai Enters the Net: a fight over money ruins both sides, so withdraw early. Gui in emptiness means frozen funds show signs of loosening.

Gui in a love reading points to secret crushes, clandestine affairs, or things being hidden — uncover the hidden facts before deciding how to proceed. If Gui's palace is under restraint or in emptiness, the net has an opening: changing the hour and the route breaks free. Be especially careful in rain and fog.
