Nobles Convene

Heaven-plate Gui over earth-plate Wu: Wu and Gui combine as stems, like joining hands with a noble patron — auspicious for marriage and wealth, with backers to support joint ventures; with the Open, Rest, or Life Door, the blessing doubles.

Formation

Heaven plate Gui + Earth plate Wu

Classical Verse

癸加戊:吉门宜求财,婚姻喜美,吉人赞助成合;若门凶迫制,反祸官非。(Gui upon Wu: with auspicious doors, seek wealth — marriage is blessed and helpful patrons bring the union together; but if pressed by inauspicious doors, it turns instead to misfortune and litigation.)

十干克应 (Responses of the Ten Stems)

In Depth

Tian Yi Convergence is the auspicious formation produced when heaven-plate Gui sits over earth-plate Wu. Wu is the concealed lead stem of the Jia-Zi ten-day cycle, honored as Tian Yi; Gui water and Wu earth form one of the five stem combinations — like a minister received by the sovereign, a guest welcomed by the host — hence the name Tian Yi Convergence. The formation portends the joy of union: marriages come together easily, wealth accumulates, and undertakings find noble patrons to make introductions and lend support. The formation rests on the Wu-Gui combination: Gui is water at its most yin, Wu is yang earth; yin and yang pair, above and below respond — the very image of alliance, partnership, and matchmaking in human affairs. Anything that requires two parties to be brought together draws strength from it. In severity, the door is the hinge: with the Open, Rest, or Life Door, joy compounds joy, and both marriage and wealth prosper; but if the palace meets an inauspicious door pressing upon it, the union sours midway, and partnership or contract turns instead into litigation and loss — the ancient verse's warning that inauspicious doors turn it to misfortune and lawsuits points exactly here. Points to note: this formation favors joint effort over solo action — success comes through collaboration, and going it alone forfeits the blessing; in Emptiness (Kong Wang) the union is hollow and promises come to nothing; Wu governs capital and Gui governs flow, so when the two combine in strength, matters of raising and matching funds go especially smoothly. In practice, weigh the palace of the Chief (Zhi Fu) and the strength of the Day Stem to judge how soon the union completes.

Readings by Topic

Career

An image of winning the favor and patronage of superiors — be proactive in negotiations, alliances, signings, and bids for promotion. With the Open, Rest, or Life Door in the palace, reach boldly for senior roles; if an inauspicious door presses the palace, the partnership conceals legal trouble — slow down on signing and moving.

Wealth

Wealth comes through introductions and sponsorship: joint ventures, brokering and matchmaking, and celebration-related business thrive most. Ride the momentum to sign long-term contracts and widen the circle of partners; only when an inauspicious door presses the palace should you watch for contract traps — review every clause before signing.

Relationships

The Wu-Gui combination governs marriage ties — a highly auspicious formation for love. Proposals, engagements, and registering the marriage all favor this moment, often brought together by matchmakers and benefactors. For the married, harmony deepens and joy arrives; only under an inauspicious door, guard against disputes over betrothal gifts and money details.

Health

An image of qi and blood in harmony: illness tends to improve with the help of good physicians, and chronic conditions respond well to consistent treatment and regular follow-ups. Under auspicious doors, both consultations and surgery go smoothly; under inauspicious ones, guard against misdiagnosis — have important conclusions reviewed at another hospital.

Travel

Journeys enjoy the care of companions: business trips, appointments, and matchmaking visits all go smoothly, with helpful people met along the way. Set out toward the direction and hour of the Open, Rest, or Life Door; traveling with others beats traveling alone, and a visit to a friend en route may bring an unexpected delight.

Disputes & Lawsuits

In disputes, peace serves better than battle: an intermediary stands ready to mediate, and a handshake settlement is the best outcome. Under auspicious doors, mediation succeeds and losses can be negotiated and recovered; if an inauspicious door presses the palace, guard against the settlement agreement itself breeding new disputes — nail down every term.
