🔑 How It Forms
Within the Life Palace's trinity (the palace itself + the opposite palace + the two trine palaces, four in all), three of the birth-year Four Transformations — Hua Lu, Hua Quan and Hua Ke — must all appear. The Four Transformations are the marks that the heavenly stem of the birth year stamps onto four stars: Hua Lu governs income and opportunity, Hua Quan governs voice and executive force, Hua Ke governs reputation and success in examinations, Hua Ji governs obstruction. The three treasures gathering forms the pattern; the test does not ask which star each mark is stamped on, and does not check whether Hua Ji has come along too.

The Four Transformations are the chart's energy switches, and a single birth-year stem lights up four stars at once: three favorable transformations plus one Hua Ji. What this pattern tests is whether all three favorable ones can shine into the Life Palace's trinity together — Lu supplying resources, Quan supplying execution, Ke supplying standing, three lines feeding power at the same time, so that the density of opportunity naturally runs above average. The detector does not ask which stars the three marks landed on, because San Qi Jia Hui (Three Treasures) is about the structural fact of complete energy; the nature of the host stars only affects which arena the pattern cashes out in, not whether it forms. Note that Hua Ji lies outside the check: the birth-year set always includes one, and if it too falls inside the trinity the test still passes — a leak in the circuit belongs to the questions of what breaks the pattern and what to watch for. The three transformations need not share a palace; scattered across the four they still count as gathered.
