Ri Yue Zhao Bi (Sun & Moon on the Wall)
Tai Yang and Tai Yin in temple meeting at the Property Palace — sun and moon lighting the wall. A flourishing family estate and luminous holdings: the celebrated wealth pattern of property.
🔑 How It Forms
This pattern is anchored on the Property Palace (the palace governing housing and family estate): Tai Yang and Tai Yin must both appear inside the Property Palace's trinity (the palace itself + the opposite palace + the two trine palaces, four in all), and each star's brightness must reach thriving or higher (a star's power runs from strong to weak through seven grades: in temple, thriving, in place, favorable, neutral, weak, fallen, of which in temple and thriving are the top two).

🔬 A Worked Example, Step by Step
The chart below is cast by our own engine, and the steps come from the pattern detector in that same pass — the explanation is the judgement, not a separate write-up.
- 1
Locate the Property Palace (branch Wei) as the basis for judgement.
- 2
Looking for Tai Yang and Tai Yin across the trinity of the Property Palace: all required stars are present.
- 3
Found Tai Yang across the trinity of the Property Palace.
- 4
Checking brightness: Tai Yang in temple — meets the requirement.
- 5
Found Tai Yin across the trinity of the Property Palace.
- 6
Checking brightness: Tai Yin in temple — meets the requirement.
- 7
All 3 conditions above are met, so the pattern forms.
- 8
Finally the tier: no malefics or Hua Ji disturb the trinity of the Property Palace, so the pattern stands at full strength.
✓ Result: the pattern forms at full strength
This pattern looks at the Property Palace rather than the Life Palace, because what it describes is family estate and real property in the first place — the anchor palace has moved, so do not go hunting for it around the Life Palace. Tai Yang and Tai Yin are the only two great light sources on the chart, one governing what is open and one what is hidden, and only when both shine into the Property Palace do you get the image of light on the wall of the house. The detector therefore requires both, and missing either one fails the pattern. Brightness is measured separately for each: the luminaries above all depend on being in season, and a Tai Yang without force cannot light anything, so a chart like that never clears this step. Whether the two stars sit in the Property Palace itself or shine in from a trine or the opposite palace, the detector treats them alike — all of it lies inside the trinity.

Real estate, asset management, and the succession line of a family business. Expanding the estate or preserving it are both proper uses.
Top-tier luck in acquiring property, with a good eye and good timing on houses and land. Weight the allocation toward real property and succession planning rather than pure liquidity.
The household matters enormously, and marriage and property purchases usually advance together. Buying a home jointly is both the glue of the relationship and its test.
⚠️ When It Breaks
One luminary fallen halves the light on the wall. Malefics or Hua Ji in the Property Palace warn of title disputes and domestic friction. Where the wealth is in the family estate, dividing it among siblings is the standard examination — set the rules early.
