🔑 How It Forms
Lu Cun must genuinely sit inside the Life Palace itself (Lu Cun's position is set by the heavenly stem of the birth year and stays fixed for life) — that is the open Lu. At the same time the Life Palace's trinity (the palace itself + the opposite palace + the two trine palaces, four in all) must show the birth-year Hua Lu (Hua Lu = the mark of income that the heavenly stem of the birth year stamps onto a major star, landing in whichever palace that star occupies). Both conditions met together form the pattern.

The open Lu is the income on the table, the hidden Lu a second stream that draws no attention, and this pattern tests whether the two run in parallel. The detector checks the two Lu in separate steps, with different position requirements for each: Lu Cun must sit inside the Life Palace itself and cannot merely shine in from the trinity, because it stands for the visible share held in your own hand; Hua Lu is relaxed to anywhere in the trinity, since it is a flowing source of money that moves with its host star and is supposed to be fed in from elsewhere. The two lookups also differ in kind: checking Lu Cun means asking whether the star is present, while checking Hua Lu means asking which star carries the mark, because Hua Lu is not an independent star. The old books located the hidden Lu through the six-harmony partner of the Life Palace's branch; the range used here is the trinity, and on a real chart the two amount to the same thing — one solid Lu held at the Life Palace, and another route of Lu piped in from outside.
