Water Snake in Fire

Heaven-plate Ren over earth-plate Bing: Ren water douses Bing fire, water and fire clash and wound each other. Official calamity and legal restraint follow one upon another, disputes arriving in unbroken succession — an ominous pattern.

In Depth

Water Snake Entering Fire refers to heaven-plate Ren over earth-plate Bing. Ren is the water snake; Bing is the Moon Noble, blazing fire. When Ren water sits above Bing fire, water attacks fire while fire steams the water — mutual injury on both sides, hence the name. The classical reading, official calamity and imprisonment arriving without pause, describes lawsuits, penalties, and detentions coming one after another: before one matter closes, the next begins. Structurally, Ren water strikes at Bing fire — the Noble of light — which amounts to dousing hope and turning-points; and Bing's fierce nature does not submit to restraint but flares into greater conflict, so the pattern's harm carries the signature of escalation and chain reaction. Its severity is heavy, and it is most hostile to dealings with officialdom: litigation, investigations, and administrative penalties all tend to snowball from small beginnings. An auspicious door in the palace reduces matters to false alarms and light penalties; with the Fright Door or Harm Door, the image of legal restraint becomes concrete. In judgment, gauge the stage of events. If trouble has not yet erupted, the priority is restraint in word and deed and a proactive compliance review; if it has erupted, emotional confrontation is the worst response — the more heat, the more harm — and de-escalation through a softer posture is the way to cut losses. If Bing falls into Emptiness, the official trouble is mostly bluster, thunder without rain. In winter, when Ren water is at full strength, the pattern's force peaks; keep major statements and negotiations away from that season.

Readings by Topic

Career

Workplace trouble clings: entanglement in compliance reviews or open conflict with superiors is likely, and impulsive statements inflate small matters into big ones. Do not resign in anger or appeal over your manager's head. Draw in your edges, keep processes and records rigorous, and put self-protection first.

Wealth

Losses arrive tied to penalties and confiscations: fines, contract damages, frozen accounts. Gray-area income is at its most dangerous now, with enforcement actions coming in waves. Run a proactive compliance review and pay overdue taxes promptly — gambling on luck carries a steep price.

Relationships

The relationship is fire against water: quarrels burn hot, escalate repeatedly, and alternate between cold war and open flame. On reconciliation: reunion leads back to the same fights. Make no decisions in the heat of anger, and keep conflicts away from both families and public settings. Cooling down comes first.

Health

Guard against attack from both fire and water: heart and cerebrovascular issues, blood pressure, and eye trouble on the fire side; kidneys and the urinary system on the water side — examine both. Emotional agitation is the chief trigger, so beware acute episodes. Those with existing conditions should keep to their medication and avoid tobacco, alcohol, and late nights.

Travel

Travel is unfavorable: inspections, detentions, and document disputes are likely, and water routes and railways call for extra vigilance. Trips made for lawsuits or paperwork mostly end in wasted journeys and frayed tempers. If you must travel, carry complete documents, keep your speech mild, and avoid quarrels.

Disputes & Lawsuits

Official calamity and legal restraint is this pattern's core reading: litigation is gravely inauspicious and comes in chains — one case unresolved as the next begins, with civil matters risking escalation to administrative or even criminal ones. Never resist enforcement or conceal evidence. Keep a lawyer engaged throughout, and settle whenever settlement is possible.
