Official Punishment

Heaven-plate Geng over earth-plate Ji — the metal of punishment nourished by dark earth; the old formula warns that Geng upon Ji, the Punishment, is worst of all. Lawsuits drag on without end, and mishandled, they carry the calamity of prison.

Formation

Heaven plate Geng + Earth plate Ji

Classical Verse

庚加癸兮为大格,加己为刑最不宜。 (Geng upon Gui makes the Great Obstruction; upon Ji it makes the Punishment, most unwelcome of all.)

《烟波钓叟歌 (Song of the Old Fisherman of the Misty Waves)》

In Depth

The Official Punishment Pattern forms when heaven-plate Geng sits over earth-plate Ji. Geng is Tai Bai, the baleful metal that rules official trouble and prison; Ji is Yin Earth, governing hidden private affairs. When Geng Metal lands on Ji Earth, the earth turns and feeds the metal: obscure dealings nourish the god of punishment, and official trouble gains an endless supply of fuel — hence the name. When the Song of the Old Fisherman of the Misty Waves runs through the evils of the Geng patterns, it singles this one out — upon Ji it makes the Punishment, most unwelcome of all — ranking it the most punishing of Geng's placements. The pattern's logic is nourishment gone wrong: feed a baleful god and its malice swells. Its signature is therefore endlessness — litigation that lingers and recurs, one wave rising before the last subsides, and mishandled, a civil dispute slides toward prison. In severity it is a heavily inauspicious pattern: in litigation, cases breed cases and old ones reopen; in personnel matters, petty informers denounce without pause; for one's own fate, beware criminal liability. Supported by the Three Nobles and auspicious doors it can soften to quarrels and monetary loss, though still long drawn out; with inauspicious doors and stars, the threat of prison must not be taken lightly. If the palace falls into Void (Kong Wang), the suit hangs unresolved — much thunder, little rain. Under this pattern, strict legality and compliance is the only solid ground; no gray zone can be touched.

Career

Guard against compliance blowback: a procedural flaw or a signature of endorsement can resurface for accountability years later. Handle everything by the book and keep records; endorse or guarantee for no one; clear up disputed old matters on your own initiative rather than waiting to be pursued.

Wealth

Wealth drains through litigation: once a case clings, lawyer's fees, damages, and frozen funds follow one after another. Ring-fence assets exposed to litigation early, and never skip legal review before signing; refuse gray income absolutely — it is the fuse of criminal liability.

Relationships

Romantic disputes here tend to end up in court — divorce and property division, engagement gifts, and gift-recovery claims are typical and slow-moving. Settle by agreement rather than facing off in court where possible; put large transfers between partners in writing while the relationship is sound.

Health

Guard against illness from chronic strain and the relapse of old conditions: the lungs, large intestine, skin, and old traumatic injuries flare readily; those worn down by litigation should also watch for anxiety and insomnia dragging the body under. Treat to the root and don't stop medication at the first improvement; schedule deliberate rest during a lawsuit.

Travel

Beware entanglements on the road: a flawed document, a standing violation, or a border-check query can each hold you up. Verify papers, visas, and vehicle documentation item by item before departure; follow every rule en route and leave inspectors no pretext.

Disputes & Lawsuits

This is the archetypal litigation pattern: suits without end, lingering and recurring, and in grave cases the calamity of prison. Engage a professional lawyer for the whole course and take every step by procedure; never fabricate evidence or collude on testimony — that is what turns a civil matter criminal.
