Auspicious Human Escape

Heaven-plate Ding over earth-plate Yi: the Star Wonder meets the Day Wonder, wood and fire in bright accord — the auspicious Ren Dun (Human Concealment) pattern. The eminent gain office and salary; for ordinary people, joy in marriage and money alike.

Formation

Heaven plate Ding + Earth plate Yi

In Depth

Ding is the Star Wonder, Yi the Day Wonder. With heaven-plate Ding on earth-plate Yi, Yi wood feeds Ding fire: the two Wonders meet with the lower producing the upper, like fresh fuel passing on the flame — hence the auspicious pattern of Ren Dun. How the pattern forms: in Qimen, obtaining a Wonder is itself prized; two Wonders in one palace is rare, and here they stand in the producing relation besides. Human affairs fall into harmony and noble qi gathers: the eminent gain office and salary, ordinary people conclude marriages and gather wealth. If moreover the Rest Door and Tai Yin accompany Ding, the pattern becomes the true Ren Dun among the Three Concealments, its blessing more concentrated still — plans laid in quiet succeed, with patrons lending unseen support. Where it sits on the scale: auspicious, and its virtue lies in human accord — fit for everything that succeeds through connection, betrothal, partnership, and introduction. Points to note: Yi and Ding are both yin stems; their blessing is mild and long-flowing rather than explosive — tend it like a slow, steady stream. In spring, wood reigns and fire is rising, the producing bond at full strength and the pattern at its best; in autumn and winter the wood weakens and the blessing slows. In the Void, the happy event is delayed; in the tomb, the patron fails the appointment; with inauspicious doors the blessing is halved — act on the Open, Rest, or Life Doors to enjoy it whole. And when the happy day nears, keep it quiet: a pattern of human accord suffers nothing so much as complications sprouting sideways.

Readings by Topic

Career

Favorable for succeeding through people: seeking introductions, apprenticing to a master, forging alliances, and interviews are all blessed — patrons are willing to vouch for you. Promotion comes by recommendation rather than raw examination, and goodwill long deposited pays out now. Attend the gatherings; opportunity hides in the traffic of favors.

Wealth

Joy in money matters: favorable for partnerships and for business and clients that come through acquaintances — deals close readily and keep yielding afterward. Income flows gently and steadily and will not be hurried. Sign on an auspicious door's hour; if the Void intervenes, the windfall is merely late — wait for it patiently.

Relationships

The finest of marriage patterns: matchmaking, confessions, engagements, and weddings all prosper, and matches made through introduction prove the most dependable. Two affections feeding each other, mild and enduring; for the married, a harmonious household with glad tidings. Seize the present window — good matches do not wait on hesitation.

Health

An image of well-being: the sick find good physicians and attentive care, and convalescence shows results. Yi and Ding are gentle wood and fire; the worries run no deeper than mild complaints such as liver-blood deficiency or restless sleep from deficient fire, best met with nourishing food and warmth. Pregnancy and childbirth go smoothly, with family close at hand.

Travel

Smooth journeys: favorable for visiting family and friends, keeping a matchmaking appointment, or traveling in company — warm-hearted help appears along the way, and company beats solitude. Depart on the Rest, Life, or Open Doors and keep the schedule loose. The trip is really about meeting people; meet the right one and the matter is done.

Disputes & Lawsuits

Disputes want reconciliation, and this pattern's human warmth serves mediation best: through a go-between's shuttling or a patron's good word, most suits can be laid to rest with dignity. Do not grind toward a hard verdict — winning the case while losing the goodwill is a poor trade. Extend the olive branch; the other side will likely take it.
