Eight Gods

White Tiger

One of the Eight Gods, of the Metal element. The White Tiger is a fierce and violent deity governing weapons and bloodshed, injury and strife, and matters of roads and traffic. Weakened and restrained, its menace subsides; with an auspicious door, its authority can be borrowed.

In Depth

Bai Hu (White Tiger) is one of the Eight Gods of Qimen, of the Metal element, bearing the stern, killing qi of the West — a fierce and violent deity. Some rotating-plate schools place Gou Chen (the Hook) here instead; the imagery differs, but the malign nature is much the same. The White Tiger governs weapons, bloodshed, injury and illness, fighting, and sudden calamity, and also roads, traffic, and vehicles — readings on journeys and travelers commonly judge road safety from the White Tiger's palace. It also has a side of authority, force, and law enforcement: military and police work, surgery, competitive sport, and other professions that win by hard force resonate with it. Judging fortune turns on strength and combination: a flourishing White Tiger joined by inauspicious doors such as Harm, Fright, or Death has its menace fully unleashed — injuries, traffic accidents, surgery, fights that draw blood. In a weak palace, or one whose element subdues it, the menace is reined in and most alarms prove false. The White Tiger flourishes in autumn, when Metal reigns and the greatest caution is due; landing in the Li palace, overcome by Fire, its force is cut. Paired with the Open Door, the Life Door, and the Three Wonders, its authority can be borrowed — good for enforcing the law, defending one's rights, and tackling hard problems head-on. Points to note: a White Tiger sharing its palace with Geng metal or an inauspicious pattern doubles the harm, especially feared in illness and litigation readings; with Void, the trouble is mostly bluster with little power to become disaster, though driving and going under the knife still deserve a wide berth.

Readings by Topic

Career

The White Tiger stands for hard-edged competition. At work it signals head-on confrontation — colleagues fighting over credit, pressure bearing down from above. Those in military, police, law-enforcement, surgical, or competitive fields draw strength from it instead. Ordinary staff should stay out of the line of fire and avoid direct clashes.

Wealth

With the White Tiger in the palace, money comes with turbulence — losses through grabbing and disputes, clashes over partnership accounts. Flourishing with an inauspicious door, guard against forcible seizure or cut-throat competition in the trade. For metals, machinery, and slaughtering businesses, a flourishing White Tiger instead lends the enterprise momentum.

Relationships

When the White Tiger enters the palace of love, quarrels turn fierce, words cut like knives, and things can come to blows. In marriage readings it brings bickering and strife at home, and elders' health also deserves attention. Both sides should avoid arguing at the hottest moment — cool down first, reason later.

Health

The White Tiger governs bloodshed and surgery. In illness readings, guard against trauma, fractures, and operations. As Metal it corresponds to the lungs, large intestine, and bones and sinews. Flourishing with the Death Door, the illness is dangerous — seek treatment early. A weak, restrained White Tiger is mostly a false alarm; a follow-up check will settle the mind.

Travel

The White Tiger governs roads and is the god that matters most in travel readings. Flourishing with an inauspicious door, guard against collisions, scrapes, and confrontations en route — control your speed, above all when driving. Weak and restrained, it brings little worse than jams and delays. Check the vehicle before a long trip and stay off night roads.

Disputes & Lawsuits

The White Tiger governs legal trouble and punishment. In litigation it means fierce confrontation that can escalate to public-order or even criminal dimensions. Flourishing with an inauspicious door, whichever side strikes first or escalates first is punished the more heavily. Keep emotions in check, follow procedure, and answer the suit only with evidence in hand.
