White Tiger Rampant

Heaven-plate Xin over earth-plate Yi: the White Tiger's metal hacks at tender yin wood, and the ferocity is unchecked. It signals ruined households and lives lost, calamity on distant journeys, and carts and boats alike wrecked — among the gravest of the ten-stem configurations, demanding caution for travel and home alike.

Formation

Heaven plate Xin + Earth plate Yi

In Depth

Xin is the metal of the White Tiger, governing punishment and slaughter; Yi is yin wood, tender and full of life, and also the Sun Noble. With heaven-plate Xin over earth-plate Yi, metal chops wood — a savage tiger pouncing on young grass, the assault meeting nothing to break it — a pattern called the White Tiger Rampant. The pattern's essence is a merciless overcoming: Yi wood is weak by nature, and when Xin metal arrives riding its own strength, the living qi is crushed and the noble qi wounded — hence the ferocity is swift and direct. The old texts judge it as lives lost and households ruined, calamity on distant roads, carts and boats wrecked, ranking beside the White Tiger Offending Structure as a great taboo for travel. In severity it belongs to the eruptive kind: disaster arrives fast and hard, most often as bodily harm, upheaval at home, and traffic misfortune, and it also unsettles elders. Read the strength of the host palace: with Xin metal in Qian or Dui it stands on home ground and the tiger is at its fiercest; in the Li Palace fire subdues metal, the tiger's menace is checked and the harm drops by a third; in the wood palaces Zhen and Xun, flourishing wood can still resist, and the danger carries some slack. The three auspicious doors bring only slight relief, while inauspicious doors make the disaster burn hotter. In emptiness the tiger's fury is bluster and mostly ends in a scare — yet testing the danger in person remains forbidden. For questions of travel, home, or an elder's health under this pattern, enforce precautions strictly: postpone the journey, service the vehicle, watch over the old. Clearing the hard risks one by one is the true remedy.

Readings by Topic

Career

The image is a powerful enemy at the gates: a domineering boss or rival bearing down head-on, and meeting force with force means injury. This is no time to job-hop on a gamble — the next employer's terrain may be more dangerous still. Step out of the line of attack, hold your baseline and your records, secure yourself first and plan the way out after.

Wealth

Gravely unfavorable for wealth: losses strike fast and hard — guard against seizure by force, contracts torn up unilaterally, investments harvested by predators. Shrink high-risk positions quickly and add no leverage. Business involving other regions or transport carries double the risk this period; delay whatever can be delayed.

Relationships

One side turns forceful and wounding: quarrels blaze, words cut like knives, and the damage resists repair; the household is unquiet, and crude outside interference may intrude. The first task is to stop the losses and stop the fighting — physical and emotional safety come first, and major decisions wait until the storm passes.

Health

Points to acute conditions and trauma: the liver and gallbladder under assault, blade wounds to sinew and bone, traffic injuries and falls. Watch elders' health with special care — the pattern warns of falls and sudden illness in the old. Do not delay treatment this period, take extra care in transit, and schedule elective surgery for another date outside this pattern.

Travel

Carts and boats wrecked is this pattern's direct verdict on travel: gravely unfavorable, unstable by land, water, and air alike. Cancel if at all possible; avoid long-distance driving and night flights or night ferries. If travel is unavoidable, choose large, reputable carriers, keep the seatbelt fastened throughout, and arrange travel insurance in advance.

Disputes & Lawsuits

The suit finds you under ferocious attack from the stronger party: their tactics are sharp, your side keeps losing ground, and trading blows head-on works against you. Retain a seasoned lawyer to stand in front, parry through procedure and evidence, refuse pitched battle, and watch for the moment to settle and disengage.
