Green Dragon Escapes

Heaven-plate Yi over earth-plate Xin: the Azure Dragon, struck by sharp metal, takes flight. Wealth scatters and fortunes break, subordinates abscond with goods, people and money both lost — among the gravest of the ten-stem configurations.

Heaven plate Yi + Earth plate Xin

In Depth

Yi is the Day Wonder, imaged as the Azure Dragon; Xin is yin metal, keen-edged, governing punishment and transgression. When heaven-plate Yi lands on earth-plate Xin, the dragon is overcome and flees — hence the name, Azure Dragon Flees (Qing Long Tao Zou). The mechanism: Xin metal's edge is made for cutting Yi wood, and soft Yi has no strength to resist — it can only abandon its post and run. The dragon is a creature of worth; when the dragon flees, the household loses its guard and its fortune drains away. Thus the classical readings: servants absconding, livestock harmed, wealth broken and scattered — the people who handle your money walk off with it, and the foundations of wealth take the wound. In terms of fortune this is a severely inauspicious pattern. Divinations typically show people leaving and money scattering: staff resigning with funds in hand, partners withdrawing capital, clients drifting away, unrest at home. For marriage it often signals the wife's departure or the bond breaking; lost objects stay lost, usually carried off by someone. Points to note: the pattern's entire menace sits in the words 'flee' and 'lose' — the guard-post is whoever handles your money and goods. The three auspicious doors — Open, Rest, Life — blunt the harm, and part of the loss can be recovered; inauspicious doors accelerate the collapse. If Yi meets the Void, the one who left has made up their mind — pursuit is wasted. The urgent business is preserving core assets: audit the books, pull back authority, change the locks. Mending the fold after the sheep is lost is still not too late.

Career

A key team member is preparing to leave — possibly taking clients, resources, or confidential material along. Review authorizations and access at once. If you divine for yourself, this post will not hold you: once the decision is made, part on good terms, but document every step of the handover for your own protection.

Wealth

The signs of financial loss are plain: a handler absconding with funds, receivables gone bad, an investment vehicle vanishing — all possible. First priority: pull in account permissions and reconcile inventory against the books. Freeze all new investment; stop the bleeding before planning the next move.

Relationships

One heart has already left — classically read as the wife's departure — or the bond unravels through a family member's money troubles. Holding on by force is useless; settle the division of property first. The unmarried should not hand over betrothal money or valuables now, lest both partner and purse be lost.

Health

Liver wood under assault: watch for liver and gallbladder ailments, cramping of tendons and channels, and bleeding injuries; household pets and livestock also fall sick easily. In chronic illness, guard against relapse and drift — change attending physicians only with great care, and keep your own copy of the medication record.

Travel

Guard against losing money and goods en route: wallets, documents, and luggage entrusted to others are at greatest risk, and companions may scatter mid-journey. Secure your home and animals before a long trip. If you seek a missing person or object, it has already traveled far.

Disputes & Lawsuits

Cases here typically involve absconded funds, misappropriation, or abduction, and key witnesses and exhibits tend to vanish. Apply for asset preservation and evidence fixing immediately. The recovery suit will be a long campaign — save what can be saved, and know when to stop.
