Yue Sheng Cang Hai (Moon over the Sea)
Tai Yin with Tian Tong in the Zi branch holding the Life Palace — the moon rising over the sea. Clean, ample wealth and a flourishing household: the elegant strain among the wealth patterns.
🔑 How It Forms
Tian Tong and Tai Yin sit in the same palace (in the same palace = both stars falling inside one and the same palace) in the Life Palace itself, the Life Palace lies in the Zi branch, and both stars reach thriving or in temple in brightness (brightness is a star's power grade in the palace it occupies; in temple is the strongest, thriving the next). All three conditions met together form the pattern. The test is anchored on the Life Palace; the old books describe a second route through the Property Palace, which lies outside this test.

🔬 A Worked Example, Step by Step
The chart below is cast by our own engine, and the steps come from the pattern detector in that same pass — the explanation is the judgement, not a separate write-up.
- 1
Locate the Life Palace (branch Zi) as the basis for judgement.
- 2
This pattern requires the palace to sit at Zi; the Life Palace is at Zi — condition met.
- 3
Looking for Tian Tong and Tai Yin in the Life Palace: all required stars are present.
- 4
Checking brightness: Tian Tong thriving and Tai Yin in temple — meets the requirement.
- 5
Finally the tier: no malefics or Hua Ji disturb the trinity of the Life Palace, so the pattern stands at full strength.
✓ Result: the pattern forms at full strength
The Zi branch belongs to water, Tai Yin is the moon and Tian Tong the star of blessing, and the image being taken is moonlight spread across an open expanse of water — so the branch must be Zi; move it and the picture no longer holds. Tian Tong and Tai Yin already appear together at Zi, yet the detector still writes 'in the same palace' as a hard condition, in order to exclude the case where the two stars sit in separate palaces and merely arrive together inside the trinity — that arrangement is not this pattern. The brightness requirement applies to both stars at once: a dim Tai Yin means faint moonlight, an under-strength Tian Tong means thin blessing, and falling short at either end fails the test. The old masters held the pattern even better in the Property Palace, promising a fine home and abundant real estate, but the anchor here is the Life Palace, and the Property Palace route has to be read separately.
🎯 Readings by Topic
Quality-driven industries: design, cultural products, lifestyle, financial planning. Turn taste into a profession and clear water becomes an ocean.
A steady, long-running kind of prosperity, especially favorable for real estate and household assets. The home is the treasury — settle well and the work goes well.
A warm view of family and a marriage that is generally quiet and happy. The romance of this pattern lives in ordinary days rather than grand gestures.
⚠️ When It Breaks
The Void stars raise waves on still water and drain the holdings. With malefics or Hua Ji striking the Property Palace, check property paperwork line by line. A pattern of clean fortune least of all wants haste — hurry and the water clouds.
