Wen Xing Gong Ming (Literary Stars Salute)
Wen Chang and Wen Qu saluting the Life Palace from the trinity structure, or seated in it together — the literary stars in attendance. Broad learning, many gifts, and an early literary name.
🔑 How It Forms
Wen Chang and Wen Qu sit in the same palace (in the same palace = both stars falling inside one and the same palace) in the Life Palace itself — that is one route. Or both stars fall inside the Life Palace's trinity (the palace itself + the opposite palace + the two trine palaces, four in all) and salute it from there — that is the other. Satisfying either forms the pattern. No brightness threshold applies, and neither Hua Ji nor malefics are checked.

🔬 A Worked Example, Step by Step
The chart below is cast by our own engine, and the steps come from the pattern detector in that same pass — the explanation is the judgement, not a separate write-up.
- 1
Locate the Life Palace (branch Chou) as the basis for judgement.
- 2
Looking for Wen Chang and Wen Qu in the Life Palace: Wen Chang and Wen Qu is absent.
- 3
Looking for Wen Chang and Wen Qu across the trinity of the Life Palace: all required stars are present.
- 4
This pattern can form along 2 different routes; this chart satisfies 1 of them, so it forms — the unmet route above is simply the other path, not a failure.
- 5
Finally the tier: no malefics or Hua Ji disturb the trinity of the Life Palace, so the pattern stands at full strength.
✓ Result: the pattern forms at full strength
Wen Chang and Wen Qu are the system's two literary stars, one governing documents and order, the other eloquence and artistic gift, and this pattern tests whether both are present — one alone is a lopsided talent, while the pair links thought and expression into a single line. It reads most clearly set against Chang Qu Jia Ming (Literary Flank): flanking puts the two stars in the palaces immediately adjacent, and the literary air stays reserved and inward; saluting puts them in the Life Palace itself or shining in from the trinity, and the literary gift comes out into the open. The same two stars, and flanking versus saluting are two different patterns tested over completely different ranges. Of the two routes offered here, the same palace is the most concentrated, while being met across the trinity spreads the pair over the four palaces; both count as forming the pattern. Wen Chang or Wen Qu meeting Hua Ji instead brings trouble with paperwork, which is not checked here and belongs to the questions of what breaks the pattern and what to watch for.
🎯 Readings by Topic
Run the examination-and-promotion track alongside the content-and-expertise track: degrees, professional titles, and a signature work are all hard currency.
The literary name is the income, with publishing, teaching, and consulting following naturally. Tend the reputation and the money comes along.
Conversation is the strongest attraction, and love often begins in words on a page or in the air. Old-fashioned romance — letters, written declarations — works unfailingly here.
⚠️ When It Breaks
In a year of Wen Chang or Wen Qu with Hua Ji, guard against losses in documents and contracts and against slips in the examination hall. Mixed with the romance stars, a reputation for gallantry comes easily: talent with feeling needs boundaries.
