Tian Liang is both the star of shelter (governing protection and the dispelling of trouble) and the star of longevity, and whether it can actually shelter you depends entirely on how much force it has in the palace it occupies, so this pattern sets the bar at the highest grade, in temple, stricter than the thriving most patterns ask for. Wu is the position where Tian Liang's force is fullest, and the detector checks branch and brightness together precisely to exclude the case of a Tian Liang present but without strength. Note that in temple names a star's power grade in that palace, not a star name or a palace name — the same Tian Liang is in temple at Wu and weaker elsewhere, the same ability with wildly different delivery.
