Di Kong and Di Jie are the system's dedicated pair for coming to nothing: Di Kong leans toward thoughts and attachments emptying out, Di Jie toward wealth and accumulation draining away. The detector takes either one as sufficient, because with either seated at the Life Palace the felt sense of not quite being able to hold on is already established, and both are not needed. This step measures no brightness and does not ask whether a Lu star has arrived to rescue the chart — whether a Lu star can relieve it is a question of remedy and does not change whether the pattern forms. The void at the Life Palace is often read as poverty; the more accurate reading is a low degree of attachment to worldly accumulation, where being able to pick things up and put them down is the ability and failing to hold onto them is the price.
