Venus Enters Mars

Heaven-plate Geng over earth-plate Bing — the metal star Tai Bai intruding into the fire realm of Ying Huo, a thief-star trespassing on the host. Thieves are on their way and households leak wealth: guard rigorously against theft, seizure, and schemes worked in the dark.

Formation

Heaven plate Geng + Earth plate Bing

Classical Verse

六庚加丙白入荧,六丙加庚荧入白。白入荧兮贼即来,荧入白兮贼即去。 (When the six Geng ride Bing, the White enters the Glimmer; when the six Bing ride Geng, the Glimmer enters the White. When the White enters the Glimmer, the thief is coming; when the Glimmer enters the White, the thief departs.)

《烟波钓叟歌 (Song of the Old Fisherman of the Misty Waves)》

In Depth

Tai Bai Entering Ying Huo forms when heaven-plate Geng sits over earth-plate Bing. Geng is the metal star Tai Bai — in ancient astrology the ruler of arms and of thieves; Bing is the fire star Ying Huo, governing alarm and discord. When Geng Metal drops from the heaven plate into Bing's fire territory, the guest invades the host's seat — a thief-star trespassing on the master, hence the name. The pattern's logic lies in the direction of the metal-fire war: fire naturally conquers metal, yet Geng barges into the fire realm anyway, like a burglar who knows the house is guarded and comes regardless. So the old formula rules that when the White enters the Glimmer, the thief is coming — theft approaches, an outside enemy moves in. In severity it is an inauspicious pattern: for the home, guard against burglary and loss; in business, against clients poached and staff lured away; on the road, against robbery — and in military divination the guest fares ill. It forms an exact pair with Bing over Geng, Ying Huo Entering Tai Bai: that one means the thief is withdrawing, this one means the thief is at the door — the two directions must not be confused. With auspicious doors and stars the loss stays contained, a minor drain; with inauspicious ones, guard your person as well as your property. Note that the pattern's essence is prevention: reinforce the doors, put valuables away, defend the vital points — then the thief comes and finds no opening, and most of the menace dissolves by itself. If the palace falls into Void (Kong Wang), it is mostly a false alarm or an attempted theft that fails; still, inspect the gaps in your defenses.

Readings by Topic

Career

Guard against poaching: core clients, key results, and promotion openings may all be marked and snatched. Keep important plans confidential and log your contributions promptly; stay wary of anyone suddenly friendly and full of probing questions.

Wealth

The losses here center on theft and misappropriation: pickpockets for cash and goods, skimming for accounts, and inside jobs by partners or staff in business. Encrypt, reconcile, insure — start all three at once; never flash large sums.

Relationships

Beware an intruder making deliberate moves — someone with bad intentions may be circling your partner. Rather than feeding suspicion, invest in presence and trust; and don't hand your valuables or private matters to new acquaintances too quickly.

Health

Guard against harm from outside: knocks and falls, cuts from sharp tools, scalds and burns all belong here — take extra care on worksites and in kitchens. Acute inflammation can also strike fast; seek care promptly for fevers and injuries instead of toughing them out.

Travel

Travel is this pattern's chief scene of defense: it points to theft and robbery on the road, with luggage and valuables easily lost. Keep valuables on your person and split among places, choose reputable lodging, stay out of remote spots at night, and back up your documents beforehand.

Disputes & Lawsuits

Expect ambushes from the other side: sudden asset-preservation motions, surprise evidence, cold arrows sprung at the hearing — all are possible. Shore up your evidence chain in advance and keep key materials backed up in several places; when the other side comes offering terms, watch for the trick inside.
