Eight Gods

Six Harmony

One of the Eight Gods, of the Wood element. Liu He is the deity of protection and union, governing marriage, partnership, mediation, and transactions; it also favors concealment and escape from danger. When its palace is flourishing, matters of harmony and cooperation come together easily.

Classical Verse

伏兵但向太阴位,若逢六合利逃形。(Set your hidden troops toward the place of Tai Yin; where Liu He is met, escape and concealment are favored.)

《烟波钓叟歌(Song of the Misty Wave Angler)》

In Depth

Liu He (Six Harmony) is one of the Eight Gods of Qimen Dunjia, of the Wood element, standing three places on from the Chief (Zhi Fu) in the sequence of gods — as the Song of the Misty Wave Angler puts it, 'three from the Chief lies Liu He's place.' It is the Chief's guardian deity, mild in temperament, and governs all matters of union: marriage and betrothal, partnership and cooperation, brokering and matchmaking, contracts and transactions, friendship and social ties — any affair that needs two or more parties working together takes Liu He as a key reference. Liu He also governs shelter and concealment; its direction favors escape and hiding, and in readings about dodging trouble or lying low, its presence offers real cover. To judge fortune, look at the strength of its palace and the doors and stars sharing it: a flourishing Liu He joined by the three auspicious doors — Rest, Life, and Open — and the Three Wonders promises smooth cooperation, a marriage that comes off, and trades that please both sides. A weak or overcome palace, or inauspicious doors and patterns alongside, points instead to murky entanglements, relationships that drag on ambiguously, friction between partners, and outsiders meddling in a romance. Being Wood, Liu He flourishes in spring, is supported in winter, and is restrained in autumn, when its help weakens accordingly. Points to note: with Void (Kong Wang), the union is hollow and promises tend to fall through; under door pressure, strain hides beneath the harmony and hard-won terms rarely hold — put important agreements in writing before counting on them.

Readings by Topic

Career

Liu He governs cooperation and connections. In a flourishing palace with an auspicious door, it favors negotiating joint ventures, forming teams, and signing partnership agreements; colleagues get along and a benefactor makes introductions. When the palace is overcome or an inauspicious door is present, the team splits over opinions and partnerships breed entanglement — settle rights and responsibilities before pushing ahead.

Wealth

Liu He governs partnership income and brokerage income. With the Life Door or Open Door, it favors joint projects, commissions and profit-sharing, and intermediary business. If the palace is overcome, contracts hide disputes and the accounts get murky — spell out every line of any multi-party investment, and treat verbal promises as worth nothing.

Relationships

Liu He is the deity of matchmaking; in romance readings its presence often means someone is pulling strings to bring the couple together. Flourishing with an auspicious door, the marriage can be concluded and the relationship runs warm and smooth. With an inauspicious pattern or Void, the relationship drags on ambiguously or a third party is entangled — clarify where things stand before talking marriage.

Health

Liu He is Wood, corresponding to the liver and gallbladder, sinews, and limbs; when overcome, guard against liver-qi stagnation and strained muscles and bones. In illness readings Liu He suggests a lingering, relapsing condition, often marked by rounds of different doctors and a tangle of prescriptions — settle on one physician for systematic treatment and stop switching medications.

Travel

Liu He favors company and concealment. Travel is best undertaken with companions, and itineraries arranged through acquaintances or agents run steadier. With an auspicious door there is plenty of help along the way; with Void, expect companions to cancel and schedules to keep shifting — confirm tickets and lodging early and leave room to rebook.

Disputes & Lawsuits

Liu He governs mediation and reconciliation. In litigation its presence means settlement beats trial. With an auspicious door, an intermediary can be trusted to broker terms and shrink the matter. If the palace is overcome, the mediator's stance wavers — get every settlement term into a signed document so the other side cannot go back on its word.
