Eight Doors

Harm Door

The Harm Door belongs to yang Wood, with its original palace at Zhen 3. A baleful door, it governs injury, strife, and forcible claims — favorable for collecting debts, hunting, and competition; unfavorable for trade, marriage, and taking office.

Classical Verse

伤宜捕猎终须获,杜好邀遮及隐形。(Harm suits the hunt — the quarry will be taken; Block excels at interception, ambush, and hiding from sight.)

《烟波钓叟歌 (Song of the Old Fisherman of the Misty Waves)》 · 八门吉凶 (The Fortunes of the Eight Doors)

In Depth

The Harm Door belongs to yang Wood, its original palace at Zhen 3 in the due east. Thunder-Wood is by nature sharp, hard, and restless, so the door governs injury, strife, competition, and forcible claims. Its imagery includes trauma and surgery, vehicle collisions, debt collection and compensation claims, fishing, hunting and capture, sport and physical training, construction and logging; among people it stands for drivers, athletes, surgeons, and debt collectors. As a baleful door, its severity shifts with the palace it lands in: in the Earth palaces Kun 2 and Gen 8, Wood controls Earth and the door is forced (men po) — a baleful door under duress turns fiercer, with injury and conflict intensifying; in Qian 6 or Dui 7 it is controlled by Metal and its menace is somewhat curbed; in Kan 1 Water feeds it and its harmful nature grows stronger; in Li 9 Wood generates Fire and drains, slightly easing the threat; in Zhen 3 or Xun 4 it matches its element and shows its full character. Seasonally, the Harm Door peaks in spring and is supported in winter, resting through summer and autumn; strong, the damage runs deep; weak, it amounts mostly to scrapes and minor losses. In the hierarchy it is moderately baleful, yet for collecting debts, hunting, competing, or seizing fugitives it proves genuinely useful — the ancients promised that hunting under the Harm Door always brings a catch. Caveats: with Geng or the White Tiger, the omen of bloodied conflict deepens, and travel divinations should guard against injuries on the road; sharing a palace with auspicious stars and stems while the landing palace restrains it dissolves most of its menace.

Career

Workplace competition turns cutthroat: colleagues jostle, appraisals become head-on collisions, and ordinary office roles feel the strain. Rigid-edged professions — law enforcement, surgery, sport, engineering — actually benefit. In contested promotions, compete openly on hard merit; job-hoppers now clash easily with the old employer, so leave with the paperwork spotless.

Wealth

For wealth, the Harm Door bodes losses in regular trade and quarrels in partnerships. For collecting debts, chasing payments, and pressing claims it is at its most effective — take the initiative and there are gains to be had; competitive and adversarial ventures also stand a chance. Avoid opening new shops or making large investments, guard cash flows against sudden loss, and nail down the breach clauses in every contract first.

Relationships

Feelings run to quarrels and knocks; words wound easily, and even couples in the honeymoon phase flare up over trifles. This is no time for showdowns, negotiations, or meeting the parents — cool off first, then talk. In marriage divinations the Harm Door warns against harsh words and rash finality in the heat of the moment; physical conflict is the hard line, to be dealt with seriously the instant it appears.

Health

It governs trauma, surgery, ailments of the sinews, bones, and limbs, and of the liver and gallbladder; beware falls and traffic accidents when out, strains and fractures in sport. For patients needing surgery, the operation is feasible when the Harm Door is restrained; when the door is strong the trauma is greater — seek a second assessment of the plan. Day to day, keep off heights and fast vehicles.

Travel

On the road, guard against knocks, collisions, and damaged luggage; drive with particular care, and avoid long hauls. Trips to collect debts, press claims, or carry out official duties go smoothly instead. When the Harm Door is strong, rescheduling is best; if you must go, avoid its direction, put slowness first, and insure fully.

Disputes & Lawsuits

Litigation turns fierce, both sides at daggers drawn. Offensive moves — active claims, countersuits — draw real strength from the Harm Door, and debt-enforcement cases gain most of all. But beware mutual ruin and ballooning costs; the other side has hard countermeasures too, so weld the chain of evidence solid before the hearing.
