Mao Ri Ji（Hairy Head Mansion）
Mao Ri Ji is the traditional deity title for Hairy Head Mansion, number 18 in the atlas and part of the Western White Tiger. It follows Stomach Mansion and precedes Net Mansion. This Chinese Medieval reconstruction contains 7 stars and 6 segments; HIP 17499 is the red-ringed reference star.

Reading this star map
Hairy Head contains seven stars in this reconstruction. Several cluster in the upper right, while one extends far to the left. The reference is on the lower right. A shared count of seven does not make this the Big Dipper: use the group, positions and source version together.
Understanding the deity title
The traditional title 昴日雞 (Mao Ri Ji) combines the mansion character 昴, the association 日, and the animal image 雞. The astronomical entry is Hairy Head Mansion. A deity portrait expresses cultural imagery; a star map records positions and connecting lines. They can be read together without expecting the star pattern to resemble the animal.

「天之耳目也，主西方，主獄事」《晉書》卷十一・天文志上・二十八舍Mao is called the eyes and ears of heaven. A modern reading is listening again and checking an overlooked detail before accepting a conclusion. Attentiveness serves understanding, but constant scanning for something wrong can turn every difference into an alarm.
