Tan Lang and Tuo Luo fall into one and the same palace (in the same palace) and guard the Life Palace, and the Life Palace must be at Yin. That forms the pattern. The two stars must genuinely be in one palace; shining in from across the trinity does not count.

Tian Yue
The rod in the name is the rod of punishment, and pairing romance with the rod was the old masters' way of mocking a man penalized over an affair — so what matters here is not whether Tan Lang carries romance but what quality Tuo Luo adds to it. Tuo Luo governs delay and entanglement, and the signature of the trouble is that it will not end: a relationship that drags a consequence behind it, one indulgence with a long tail. That is quite unlike Huo Xing, which detonates once and is done. The detector nails the branch to Yin because Tan Lang and Tuo Luo only share a palace there under particular combinations; the branch here is a structural condition, not an option. The pattern applies equally to a major cycle or an annual one: run into that stretch and the turbulence comes, then passes with the cycle, so it need not be worn as a lifelong label. The one key move it calls for is a clean cut — do not let delay turn a small matter into a sunk cost.
