Cai Yu Qiu Chou (Wealth Feuds with the Prisoner)

Wu Qu meeting Lian Zhen under malefics and Hua Ji — the wealth star and the confinement star striking sparks. Litigation over money and constricted cash flow to guard against.

Stars involved:Wu QuLian Zhen

🔑 How It Forms

Wu Qu and Lian Zhen both appear inside the Life Palace's trinity (the palace itself + the opposite palace + the two trine palaces, four in all); they need not share a palace, and falling in two different palaces of the four counts as well. On top of that, the trinity must supply something to set them off: either Hua Ji (one of the Four Transformations produced when the heavenly stem of the birth year activates a star, governing obstruction), or any one of the four malefics Qing Yang, Tuo Luo, Huo Xing and Ling Xing. Either one is enough.

📜 Classical Verse

Wealth and the prisoner at feud.

—— The Complete Book of Zi Wei Dou Shu

📖 In Depth

Wu Qu handles the money and Lian Zhen handles the rules and the disputes, and the two can perfectly well complement each other — money kept lawfully is simply wealth and rank. Once malefics and Hua Ji inflame them, though, it becomes money quarreling with the rules: contracts go wrong, accounts get disputed, funds are pinned down by a regulation. The single word feud in the old formula names the mechanism precisely, because losses under this pattern are usually caused not by the market but by relationships and rules. Its defensive moves are correspondingly concrete: contracts, receipts, audits, none of them skipped.

How it is derived
  1. 1

Locate the Life Palace (branch Xu) as the basis for judgement.

  2. 2

Looking for Wu Qu and Lian Zhen across the trinity of the Life Palace: all required stars are present.

  3. 3

Checking transformations across the trinity of the Life Palace: the required Hua Ji is absent.

  4. 4

Looking for Qing Yang, Tuo Luo, Huo Xing and Ling Xing across the trinity of the Life Palace: found Huo Xing, Tuo Luo and Qing Yang (any one suffices).

  5. 5

This pattern can form along 2 different routes; this chart satisfies 1 of them, so it forms — the unmet route above is simply the other path, not a failure.

  6. 6

All 2 conditions above are met, so the pattern forms.

  7. 7

Finally the tier: no benefics or wealth stars temper the trinity of the Life Palace, so the risk structure stands in full.

Result: the pattern forms and no benefic or Lu star tempers it — the affliction stands at full strength

💡 What matters in this judgement

This pattern has two layers: first confirm that the wealth star and the prison star have met, then confirm that something is inflaming them. Wu Qu governs money and Lian Zhen governs rules and disputes, and the two meeting on their own is not necessarily bad — wealth held within the law is one of the ways prosperity gets written — so the detector reaches no conclusion before the second layer. That layer looks for the trigger: Hua Ji stands for obstruction and entanglement, Qing Yang, Tuo Luo, Huo Xing and Ling Xing for conflict and sudden events, and with any one present money and rules easily collide head-on, showing up as contracts going wrong, accounts falling into dispute, funds held up by a regulation. Note that the two major stars only have to be inside the trinity; sharing a palace is not required. The losses this structure describes come mostly from relationships and rules rather than from the market, so contracts, receipts and audits — all the tedious paperwork — are exactly its defensive position.

🎯 Readings by Topic

Career

A large, well-governed platform — the more regulated, the safer. Finance and legal roles are actually home ground, because this pattern understands what rules are worth.

Wealth

Guard strictly against litigation over money: put partnerships in writing, keep evidence of every loan, audit the books on a schedule. Grey income, never.

Relationships

Money is a sensitive subject in the relationship and shared finances must be transparent. Clear accounts between close family is exactly this pattern's amulet.

⚠️ When It Breaks

Wu Qu and Lian Zhen both in temple and free of malefics means wealth and authority together and is not read this way. Take special care over signing in the years when a cycle sets it off. The remedy for this pattern is written into the contract, not into the luck.
