Maiden Scandal

Heaven-plate Ren over earth-plate Gui: murky waters mingle and private order collapses, portending household scandal and secrets spilled abroad; with door and star both inauspicious, misfortunes come in succession — a grave taboo in divinations of love and home.

Formation

Heaven plate Ren + Earth plate Gui

In Depth

Defilement of the Maiden is the inauspicious formation produced when heaven-plate Ren sits over earth-plate Gui. Ren is yang water, restless and roaming; Gui is water at its most yin, the image of the young and frail. When Ren water descends upon Gui water, the turbid current encroaches on the delicate yin — order between yin and yang breaks down and hidden intimacies fester in the dark. Hence the ancients gave the formation its name: it portends household scandal and private matters exposed. The formation arises from two waters mingling with no embankment between them: water governs desire and drift, and when Ren and Gui merge, the boundary between inner and outer dissolves — improprieties breed within and surface without. With door and star both inauspicious, misfortunes arrive in succession, scandal and calamity following one upon another. In severity this is an inauspicious formation: auspicious doors and stars can only limit the damage and contain events, never change its shadowy nature; with door and star both inauspicious, reputation, household, and legal standing suffer together. Points to note: the formation is most telling in divinations of love and home, indicating improper intimacies and a household's good name at risk — a grave taboo in marriage divination; in general matters, guard against insiders leaking secrets and compromising material slipping out. With Xuan Wu (the Black Tortoise) or Teng She (the Serpent) arriving, deception and concealment deepen; in palaces touched by Peach Blossom, extra caution is due. Whoever meets this formation should hold to propriety and keep well clear of compromising places — that is the first rule of avoidance.

Readings by Topic

Career

There is a risk of workplace rumors or old improprieties resurfacing, harming promotion and reputation; within the team, guard against private factions and leaked leverage. Watch your words and conduct, avoid compromising occasions, and put off major appointments and public statements for now.

Wealth

Wealth suffers through scandal and private entanglements — hidden expenses multiply, and there is even a risk of being blackmailed over private matters. Keep romance out of business partnerships and insist on fully transparent accounts; cut off any gray-area dealings at once to protect the foundation of honest income.

Relationships

The formation points to hidden intimacies and infidelity, with family scandal apt to spread; in courtship, beware a partner concealing their past or keeping two involvements at once. A grave taboo in marriage divination — verify the other party's background thoroughly before discussing marriage, and the married should hold to propriety and stay clear of suspicion.

Health

Ailments tend toward the reproductive and urinary systems and hidden gynecological conditions, made worse by embarrassment and avoidance of treatment. For intimate conditions especially, go to a proper hospital — early screening, early treatment; and keep a caring eye on the physical and emotional wellbeing of minors at home.

Travel

Journeys risk drifting into compromising places — keep far from nightlife districts; traveling companions may harbor private motives, so keep valuables and documents on your own person. Keep your itinerary open and known to family, limit outings after dark, and postpone nonessential trips.

Disputes & Lawsuits

Disputes arise from private matters, reputation, or family affairs, and exposure of hidden details works against you. Contain the spread of information and seek a private settlement; with door and star both inauspicious, lawsuit and scandal arrive together — keep a low profile and never trade public accusations.
