Nine Stars

Tian Zhu Star

A minor inauspicious star among the Nine, of the Metal element with its original palace in Dui 7. It governs quarrels, words, and breakage — favorable for professions of speech and for lying low and holding ground, unfavorable for travel, ventures, and expansion.

In Depth

Tian Zhu belongs to the Metal element, with its original palace in Dui 7, classified as a minor malign star. Its imagery covers quarrels, speech, destruction, and concealment: in people it points to lawyers, teachers, critics, and the eloquent — but also to stirrers of gossip; in affairs it signals dispute, breakage, and obstruction. Tian Zhu is like the pillar of a house: it should stand firm, not move rashly. Hence its auspicious use lies in concealment and holding position, while journeys, ventures, openings, and expansion tend to end in loss and quarrels. It is prosperous in autumn, supported in the earth months, resting in winter, imprisoned in spring, and dead in summer. When prosperous, the tongue is sharp and the disputes heavy; when weak, its harm fades to petty squabbles and small losses. At home in Qian and Dui, its edge is keenest; in Li, overcome by Fire, sharp words wound their own speaker; in Kan it drains itself — the more said, the more lost. Tian Zhu's harm lies in motion, not in stillness: those who live by the tongue — lecturing, advocacy, negotiation — can actually turn it to use, while ordinary undertakings that meet it should keep silent, hold position, and stay out of the spotlight. With malign doors and patterns, guard against offense through words and loss through demolition; with the Three Nobles and auspicious doors, most of the harm dissolves.

Readings by Topic

Career

Suits professions that live by the tongue — lawyers, lecturers, broadcasters, critics — where speech is the product itself. In any other role, defend rather than attack: speak sparingly in meetings, lest a careless word become ammunition for the ill-intentioned.

Wealth

Signals loss and leakage: avoid expansion, scattered investment, and watch for partnerships dissolving in quarrels. Those who charge for speech — consulting, training — may earn normally. When the star is prosperous, losses come fast and large: tighten the books first and hold the purse shut.

Relationships

Romance is thick with bickering — old scores dug up over trifles, each quarrel colder than the last. The partner is articulate but never yields a point. A cooling-off period beats debate; one word left unsaid is worth ten arguments won. In marriage questions, look hard at whether the tempers truly fit.

Health

Governs ailments of the lungs, teeth and mouth, throat, and airways, plus injuries to muscle and bone. Chronic pharyngitis and dental trouble are most common. When prosperous, illness sits in the organs of speech; when weak, it lingers into hidden complaints. Cut tobacco and alcohol, guard your words, and protect the voice in the dry autumn air.

Travel

Long journeys are ill-advised: obstruction, quarrels, or broken equipment on the road, with vehicle and vessel breakdowns especially telling. If travel is unavoidable, service the car beforehand and avoid disputes with strangers. Staying put to handle business goes all the smoother.

Disputes & Lawsuits

An image of entanglement in verbal disputes — trouble that starts from words. It favors those who stand on eloquence: a sharp-tongued lawyer gains the upper hand. Never inflame the conflict with statements outside court. Weigh every written word so that nothing can be quoted against you out of context.
